Oh, say can you see

Since today is my Friday I will leave you with some fun facts about the 4th of July! I will be enjoying my weekend on the lake with a wonderful group of friends stay tuned next week for a recap!!
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national animal but was outvoted when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson chose the bald eagle.
  • Over an estimated 150 million hot dogs will be consumed today. That's roughly 1 dog for every two people in the U.S.
  • Oddly, the majority of the nation's flags and patriotic paraphernalia in relation to the 4th of July is produced in China. Nearly $349 million dollars are used each year to import in the flags, banners, decorations, and emblems.
  • The first 4th of July party held at the White House was in 1801.
  • The 4th of July was not declared a national holiday until 1941.
  • The national anthem is actually set to the tune of an old English drinking song called To Anacreon in Heaven.
  • John Hancock was the only person to actually sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The other 55 signers did not sign it until August 2nd or even later.
  • The youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence was 26-year-old Edward Rutledge. The oldest signer was Benjamin Franklin. He was 70. Most of the signers were in their 30s and 40s.
  • When the United States became a country, there were approximately 2.5 million people living in the country. Today the population is around 304 million.
  • Bristol, Rhode Island has the oldest, continuous 4th of July celebration dating back to 1785.
P.S. I think I might make this for the weekend! What ya think?!

Please everyone be safe!!!

I am going to cook EVERYTHING in her cookbook even if it does not look appealing to me.

1. I must cook everything in the book.
2. I will cook two meals a week using her cookbook.
3. I will sample everything I cook.
4. I will have FUN

Feel free to join me! I plan to start after all craziness of the 4th dies down which will be next week. Look for my first challenge starting July 5th!

Breaking the Ice

1) Tell one thing not many people know about you.
I have a terrible phobia of small cars. When I ride in one the only thing I can think about is if we had a wreck I would problaby get smushed!

2) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to?

3) What are your 3 favorite songs of the moment?

I am currenlty in the country greatest hits albums point in my life I think I have spent entirely to much money the past week on music... oh well

1. BlackHawk: Goodbye Says it All
2. Diamond Rio: Meet in the Middle
3. Randy Rogers Band: One more Goodbye

4) List 3 goals on your life's to-do list:

1. Get my Masters in Teaching
2. Go to South Africa
3. Buy a car (2013 is the year this will happen)

5) What is one of your favorite quotes?

6) Fill in the blank:  If I had an extra 10 dollars to spend . . I would buy __________?

I just LOVE cute wine glasses like these :)

7) What’s your birth date?

8) Do you have a hidden talent and if so what is it?

I play a MEAN air guitar!!

9) What do you think of when you hear the word "blue"?

10) Finish this thought:  I need

To have the 4th of July off work :(
